Fatigue strength: PH1 steel (Sxx/ST1)
This page presents the S-N curves and fatigue limit of PH1 steel samples that underwent shot-peening, heat treatment and machining that removed allowance of 1mm (in that order), obtained using the bending tests of rotating bars with AM layers angle 45° to the axis of rotation.
Production and prost-processing conditions
Build orientation of longitudinal axis | angle 45° |
---|---|
Position with respect to inert gas flow | undefined |
Post-processing | shot-peening → heat treatment → machining allowance 1mm |
Experimental S-N curve
Wöhler curve
Fatigue limit (MPa) | 693 |
---|---|
Number of cycles to failure N | N=5,0⋅10<html>39</html>⋅S<html>-11,49</html> |
Stress amplitude S (MPa) | S=2843⋅N<html>-0,087</html> |
Explanation of the terms are given at the page Fatigue strength description.
This page is a part of the section DMLS/SLM: Fatigue design rules.
